How Does IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) work?
IPL is a form of light energy which can be used for hair removal, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation and acne treatments. We can use IPL to target specific chromophores and therefore use it to effectively treat different problems. The light emitted transforms into heat which is absorbed by the target (chromophore) and will either destroy or fragment either the pigment (as in hair removal or sun damage) or the the protein in the wall of superficial thread veins (Rosaea, thread veins and diffused redness). The trauma caused by IPL treatments also cause neo-colligenasis (new collagen formation) and can be used for anti aging and acne scarring.

Why cant I have IPL or Laser if I am tanned?
We cannot treat you if you have a sun tan because the target the IPL or laser will be attracted to is melanin which occurs naturally if you have been exposed to the sun. Before each session you will be asked if you have been in the sun or on a sunbed and asked to sign your treatment form. If we feel you are tanned we will not treat you as your safety comes first. This applies to all treatments with IPL.
Does IPL hair removal work on Gray hair?
No, it will not work on grey, red, white or very fair hair. This is because there is little or no pigment for the ,IPL to target so its a pointless treatment. We can offer electrolysis for gray facial
