How Is a Botox Procedure Done?
Botox is a very quick and relatively painless procedure which doesn’t require any anaesthesia. The product is injected with tiny needles into specific muscles and begins to take effect around 3 to 7 days.
How Long Does a Botox Injection Last?
Botox usually lasts for about 4 months, although it does depend on the individual (some people will get 6 months others 3 months). Muscle action will gradually return and you will need to be retreated. The lines and usually appear less severe over time because the muscles are being trained to relax.
What Are the Side Effects of Botox?
Common side effects are bruising, headaches,swelling all of which tend to normalize within 24 hours.
Sometimes a client may experience a temporary eyebrow droop or ptosis, this can last from 3 to 4 weeks but again will resolve. More serious side effects such as breathing difficulties and flu like symptoms will be discussed with you at consultation but these are extremely rare and you are always given a 24 hour emergency number after your treatment which means you can contact your practitioner should you have any serious concerns.
Who Should Not Receive Botox?
Clients who are pregnant, breast feeding or with any neurological disease, should not have Botox. You will be asked to fill in a medical consultation form to flag up any potential contraindications before treatment.
